Book Review: Swept Away

Adventure, romance and great storytelling could sum up the review of this book.  Mary Connealy has given us another wonderful read this spring.  We enter into the lives of Ruthy MacNeil as she is enduring the long hard days on the wagon train, or more accurately the long days with the people that she shares the wagon with; the people who have raised her.  When she is swept away in an unfortunate accident, Miss MacNeils life takes some unexpected turns.

Luke has been away from his hometown long enough for his father to be killed and his families ranch to be stolen from him.  He sends word to his friends and they gather together to form a plan that will win the ranch back and set things right.  The last thing Luke expects to find on the journey is Ruthy MacNeil who just might upset his plans to inflict revenge upon the man who murdered his pa.

Mary Connealy does a wonderful job of drawing you into the story.  I felt instantly connected with the characters and could not wait to read the next page.  I do find the action and adventure parts to be a little more detailed and drawn out than is necessary, but never the less enjoyable to read.

I would give this book 5 stars and am looking forward to reading the 2nd book of this series due to release in Sept 2013.
